Hello folks,

trying to catch one fuscus neonate born in terrarium from one well hidden egg just two days ago I wonder to what degree Gonatodes parents are tolerant their newly born neonates ;) . Please comment if you have any experience or observations. Thanks.

Radim :)

Hi Radim!

From time to time I find an offspring of G.vittatus in the tank of my breeding pair. Until today the parents were very gentle with their children ;) I even heared comparable things for G.ocellatus from mergus, thus I think that the parents of Gonatodes sp. will "normaly" not be agressive to their offprings.

best regards

Sacha

Hi Sacha,

thanks for your prompt comment concerning the toleration of Gonatodes parents. It is good to know that the parents do not heel and attack their own neonates after their hatching. My first, three days long, experience also confirms this. My little fuscus has escaped me twice when trying him separate and he was seen just in part of terrarium his parents prefer the most. The little “sprinter” :D is already in special small breeding box to have better access to offered feeding and also for my better surveillance.

Regards ,
Radim
